ASCENT OF MOUNT COOK

CLIMBERS USE LINDA ROUTE Two members of the Southland branch of the New Zealand Alpine Club climbed Mount Cook on Friday. Accompanied by Guide Murray Cassidy, of the Hermitage staff, Messrs L. Kidson and L. Warburton, of Invercargill, left for the King Memorial Hut, and followed the Linda route to the summit. The climb was the third ascent of Mount Cook this year, one other of the ascents having also been made by the Linda route. Mie weather was favourable for the climb, although the summit rocks were very icy, and presented the party with tricky climbing. The round trip took 16 hours.
