BRITISH TANKER EXPLODES
MOTOR SHIP SINKS . NEAR PHILIPPINES (Rec. 11 p.m.) HONG KONG, Feb. 12. The British motor-ship, Femmoore, of 9000 tons, exploded before she sank off Palawan Island in the Philippines last Saturday, according to a written report today from the Norwegian master, Captain O. Olsen, of the 1268ton Panamanian freighter, Liberal, which rescued the Fernmoore’s crew of 36. The Liberal arrived in Hong Kong today without the Fernmoore’s survivors. She had transferred them on the same day that she rescued the crew to the British tanker, Tomogerus, now on her way to Singapore. Captain Olsen said in his report: “After smoke from the explosion cleared away, the Fernmoore had disappeared.”
