Motions of sympathy with the relatives of the late Sir Arthur Donnelly and the late Mr D. E. Wanklyn were passed at a meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Trotting Conference last night. Dr. E. Boitze, the German Minister to New Zealand, left Wellington yesterday for a visit to the South Island, which will include Nelson, Christchurch, Dunedin. Invercargill, and The Hermitage.—(P. A.) Brigadier H. E. Gilbert, D.S.O n 0.8. E., Commander of the Southern Military District, left last evening for Singapore to attend a military conference. He is expected to be away about a fortnight. Mr E. T.
