The weather at Lake Coleridge was calm and overcast and at Highbank calm and clear, according to advice received at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Canterbury Anglers’ Club and the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society. The condition. of the fishing rivers was reported as follows: Selwyn, Halswell and Waiau. clear and fishable; Lower Rakaia, discoloured. but fishable; Ashburton and Rangitata, dirty; Hurunui, milky; Ashley, clear and fishable, but very low; Waimakariri, very dirty; Upper Rakaia, level normal, but river discoloured. The weather forecast for coastal Canterbury was for light easterly winds, and mainly fair with mild, temperatures. For the back countrjlight variable winds were forecast, with the weather mainly fair and mild.
