RED CROSS SOCIETY

CHRISTCHURCH SUBCENTRE At a meeting of the Christchurch sub-centre of the Red Cross Society held yesterday at the home of Mrs Douglas Anderson. Armagh street, it was decided to pay the annual assessment of £3O to the North Canterbury centre and to give £1 for Christmas gifts for women patients in the Burwood Hospital, £3 for Christmas cheer for disabled servicemen, and £5 to the Good Neighbour Service. It was* decided to hold the annual meeting at the Deanerv on March 4, 1954. and Mrs M. E. Allen undertook to organise the “bring and buy” stall on that day. Mrs Reeves Harris (honorary secretary) volunteered to visit the Burwood Hospital in February. It was renorted that the sub-centre had sent 65 new garments and 32 garments made from good second-hand material to the central depot in Cashel street. Mrs Martin Sullivan (president) presided at the meeting.
