BUILDING PERMITS
CHRISTCHURCH FIGURES SHOW INCREASE The value of building permits issued in Christchurch during the last eight months was higher than in the corresponding period of 1952, according to figures issued by the City Engineer (Mr E. Somers). From the end of March to the end of November, 1952, permits for building to the value of £1,208,283 were issued; but in the corresponding period of this year the value increased to £1.480,240. The number of permits issued increased from 1478 to 1553. In November, 1952. 145 permits for work of a total value of £82,587 were issued. The permits issued last month numbered 221, and their total value was £221,288. The following are details of permits issued for the various wards of the city:— April-November 1953 1952
