ROYAL CHILDREN GO SHOPPING

LONDON, December 1. Prince Charles and Princess Anne did their own Christmas shopping today. With Nurse Helen Lightbody, they drove from the Royal Lodge, Windsor, where they are staying, to a toy store in the shopping centre. There Prince Charles solemnly explained to a shop assistant that he was doing his shopping early so that his friends would have their presents in time for Christmas. He had little trouble making up his mind what to buy. He just chose things he would like to have himself —books and toy soldiers. Princess Anne chose several big dolls for her best friends. The children, who have not seen their parents for more than a week, seemed in a gay mood. They waved to the people who gathered in the streets and then drove back to the Royal Lodge, where they are expected to spend the Christmas holidays with the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret.
