WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FEDERATED FARMERS

Stewart’s Gully.—The October meeting of the Stewart's Gully Women's Division of Federated farmers was held with Mrs, Hopewell presiding. One new member, M.s Woodham, was welcomed. An invitation was received for the Brooklands birthday party. Peggy squares were handed in by members for the making of a quilt for Bov Town, Manila. It was decided to give £1 Is for the Westminster Abbey appeal. Mrs Davies demonstrated the making of rag mats. Competition results were as follows:—date loaf: Mrs Phipps 1. Mrs N. V. Smith 2. Shopping bag made from sugar-bag: Mrs Cooper 1. Mrs N. V. Smith 2. Vase of spring flowers: Mrs McLaughlan 1. Mrs Ledsham 2. Large bloom: Mrs Wrigglesworth 1. Mrs Ledsham 2. Small bloom: Mrs N. V. Hanmer.—There was a good attendance at the October meeting of the Hanmer Springs branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. Two. new members were welcomed. Members were thanked for helping and for sending cakes for the Returned Services’ Association ball for which the division catered as the special effort for the headquarters appeal It was decided to send £lO for this appeal and to hold the annual flower show on February 3, 1954. It was proposed that the division should keep an honours book. The president reported on the meeting of the executive which was held at Scargill. After the business meeting concluded Miss E. Glenr'oy.— Miss Phillips presided at the monthly meeting of the Glenroy branch of the Women's Division of Federated Farmers. Mrs Rowe gave a demonstration on tapestry and showed samples of her work. An invtiation was received from the Dunsandel branch to a floral display. A report was given on the last provincial meeting. Arrangements were made for the children's Christmas parly. Mrs Bambury gave a demonstration on tne painting of organdi. Competition results were as follows:—cold sweet made from gelatine: Mrs Derrett and Mrs W. Oakley (equal; 1, Mrs J.
