K FORCE ACTIVITIES
MINISTER REPLIES TO R.S.A. QUESTIONS (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 2. The Minister of Defence (Mr T. L. Macdonald) has informed the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association that all units of K Force are at present fully employed in preparing new defences south of the armistice line and in constructing accommodation against the coming winter. Mr Macdonald was replying to inquiries by the association on the present and future employment of the force and in particular on plans for welfare activity. Me Macdonald said that the future employment of K Force had not yet been decided. The Minister said that permanent outdoor cinemas had been established in three places and a mobile cinema was being established to cater for smaller units. The men would also see an average of two concert parties a month. Sixteen radio sets had been provided, leave facilities were cojnprehensive, and sport was well catered for. In addition, the troops had a library, several news sheets, the Y.M.C.A., NAAFI, gift parcels from New Zealland, and educational assistance.
