Mr C. E. Fenwick was elected president of the Canterbury branch of the Royal Society at its annual meeting last evening. Other officers elected were: vice-presidents, Professor E. Percival and Dr. I. D. Blair; council, Professor F. C. Chalklin, Mr B. "W. Collins, Dr. R. S. Duff. Dr. C. D. Ellyett, Dr. P B Malin-g, and Mr R R. Forster; secretary, Mr C. R. Russell; treasurer, Mr C. H. Labatt; chairman. Mr C. W. Collins; representatives on Royal Society council, Mr Fenwick and Professor R. S. Allan; chairman of sections, Mr G. A. Knox (scientific photdgraphy), Mr R. K. Garlick (field club), Mr W. W. Sawyer (mathematical and physical sciences); representative on Canterbury University College library committee, Mr G. E. Roth; auditor, Mr E. Strandring. _____
