TUESDAY (Before Mr Raymond Ferner, S.M.) INDECENT ASSAULT CHARGES Arthur Edward Wilson, aged 53, a pensioner, and Colin Arthur Edward Ringdahl, aged 19, a gardener, were remanded to December 7 on charges that each indecently assaulted the other on November 30. Ringdahl was allowed bail in his own recognisance of £5O and one surety of £5O on condition that he reports daily to the police. ATTEMPTED SUICIDE A man, whose name was ordered not to be published, pleaded guilty to a charge that he attempted to commit suicide on November 17. He was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence within 12 months if called upon. TRAFFIC OFFENCES The following prosecutions for breaches of the traffic regulations were brought by the traffic department of the Christchurch City Council, and penalties were imposed as stated:— Exceeding the speed limit: William Rex Andrews, £2 (no warrant of fitness, £1); Walter Matthew Campion, £4 (exceeding 40 miles an hour with pillion passenger, £3); Frederick Lancelot Hampton, £2: Ross Haden Haynes, £2 (no warrant of fitness, 10s); Barry Thomas Hix, £3 (no warrant of fitness, 10s); Adriaan Valk, costs only; John Leslie Walton, £3. LICENCES SUSPENDED Vincent Francis Mora was fined £5 for driving at a speed which might have been dangerous, and his driver’s licence was suspended for three months. Chief Patrol Officer P. Lunn said that Mora rode his motor-cycle along Tuam street at 43 miles an hour. He had a girl on the pillion, and his explanation for his speed was that he was trying to get the girl home before 11 p.m. He had previous convictions for traffic offences. Welwyn Peter Scowen, who was fined £2 for 'exceeding the speed limit, had his driver’s'licence suspended for one month. He had previous convictions for traffic offences. FINES TOTAL £lO Arahura Te Waipaumu Robinson was fined a total of £lO, with costs £6, on six traffic offences. He was fined £4 for exceeding the speed limit on Ferry road on July 22, £2 for using an unlicensed vehicle, £1 for failing to produce a driver’s licence, and £1 for failing to produce a warrant of fitness. He was fined £1 for having no driver’s licence on August 5 and £1 for having no warrant of fitness on the same date. CIVIL CASES (Before Mr Rex C. Abernethy, S.M.) CLAIM FOR DAMAGES lan Richard William Dawson, a sawmill employee (Mr D. H. Godfrey), claimed £56 12s 4d damages from A. C. Palmer, a truck driver (Mr B. L. Stanley), as the result of a collision between two motor vehicles on. the DunsandelHororata road on March 1. The /defendant counter-claimed for £6O 18s 6d. Judgment was given for the plaintiff for the amount he claimed, and he was also given judgment on the counterclaim. (Before Mr F. F. Reid, S.M.) JUDGMENT FOR PLAINTIFF Amos (Leslie G.), Ltd. (Mr V. G. Spiller), was given judgment against J. A. Fowlds for £2O 14s, the balance due on a radio bought on terms. DECISION RESERVED Decision was reserved on a claim by K. G. McCaw, Ltd., in liquidation, agaiift't the Attorney-General for £3BO, said to he due under a contract with the Ministry of Works. Mr E. S. Bowie appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr P. T. Mahon for the Attor-ney-General.
