SOVIET COMMENT ON REACTION

Washington Attitude Criticised (Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, November 29. A commentary on foreign reaction to the Soviet Note was broadcast by the Moscow Radio in English last night. It claimed that the Soviet Note offered fresh proof of the Soviet Government’s “profound desire for peace and its readiness to help reach a peaceful solution of international disputes.” The author of the commentary, Timofetev, said: “It is not surprising that the Note should have been approved in London, Paris and most other capitals of the world. In Washington, however, the Note met with a different reception. “The London ‘News Chronicle’ has said that Moscow has pleased everyone but Mr Dulles. The diplomatic correspondent of the ‘Daily Express’ has said that Russia’s proposal to take part in the Four-Power talks laid bare a sharp difference of opinion between Britain, France and the United States.

“It should be noted in this connexion that influential quarters in the United States are straining every nerve to keep the American public from learning the true contents of the Soviet Note. In an attempt to discredit the Soviet Note, the official American propaganda machine is trying to convince the American public that there are certain contradictions and inconsistencies in the Soviet Union’s foreign policy.”
