NEXT GENERAL ELECTION
LABOUR CHOOSES FIVE MORE CANDIDATES THREE SOUTH ISLAND SEATS (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 30. Five more Labour Party candidates for the 1954 General Election, three for South Island seats and two for electorates in the North Island, have been chosen. The selections were announced today by the national secretary of the Labour Party (Mr A. J. McDonald). They are:— Oamaru.—Mr James Herbert Rapson, aged 31, a school teacher. Ashburton.—Mr George Glassey, an agricultural inspector. Hurunui.—Mr Norman E. Kirk, aged 30. an engine driver. Tauranga.—Mr Oliver P. Liddell, aged 49, a farmer. Waikato.—Mr A. C. Tucker, aged 49, a farmer.
