RAILWAY SYSTEM IN RUSSIA
Criticism Voiced Of Management (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, November 29. Russia’s railways failed to carry out State transport plans. “Pravda,” the Communist Party newspaper, said in a leading article today. t As quoted by the Moscow Radio. “Pravda” warned high railway executives to get more food, clothing, and consumer goods to the Soviet people. “Pravda’ T said that Mr Karpov, chief of the General Transport Administration and a deputy-Minister, bore “oarticular responsibility” for railway transport failures, and said that State discipline must be strengthened in all sectors and railways delays eliminated. “The railways have not been able to cope with the transport of general consumer goods and or some freights for heavy industry.”
