WOOL SALE AT WELLINGTON

EASING TENDENCY CONTINUES GOOD COMPETITION (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 30 The slight easing tendency in the woo> market, which developed at Wanganui last Wednesday, continued today when the first Wellington sale of the season was held. The official report Issued by the Wei. lington Woolbrokers’ Association in con. junction with the New Zealand Wool, buyers’ Association and the New Zealand Wool Commission. Is follows:—“The first wool sale of the current season was held in Wellington today, when 29,584 bales were offered tn a full and representative gathering of buyers. The offering was drawn mainly from the Manawatu-and Wairarapa aistricts. A large percentage consisted O f hogget and dry sheep wool. There were some early shorn clips which, however were of the full 12-months’ growth. Tne amount of short-stapled wool offered was considerably less than has been the case in the last few years. “The wool generally opened up in good condition, the Wairarapa clips particularly showing many well-grown, attractive lots with practically no cotted and discoloured lines. The amount of lambs wool on offer was negligible. “Prices, when reduced to a clean scoured basis, showed a slight easing on those at the Wanganui sale. But if a comparison is to be made between the following range of prices and the Wanganui range, it must be appreciated that type for type, the Wellington wools were considerably higher-yielding. “Competition was widely spread. The Continent sought fine hogget wool keenly and American buyers paid premium values for the paper felt types.’’
