Three units from the central station of the Christchurch Fire Brigade attended a fire in a paling fence on a vacant section on the corner of Tuam and Montreal streets yesterday morning. About three feet of the fence was damaged before the outbreak was extinguished. The call was answered at 8.56 a.m. A grass fire on a property occupied by Mr J. R. McClintock, at 75 Glenroy street, was attended by units from the central and Woolston stations at 5.31 p.m. No damage was done. Two detached lavatories on adjoining properties in Edgeware road were destroyed by fire last evening. One unit from each of the St. Albans and Central fire brigade stations answered a call at 10.2 p.m. to a property occupied by Mr Albert Bristowe at 113 Edgeware road where a lavatory was burning fiercely. The blaze spread to another lavatory at 115 Edgeware road. Prompt action by the brigade stopped the fire from spreading.
