MANNING CUP.' MATCHES
The greens were very fast for the fftth round of the Manning Cup series on Saturday. Oh some of the more exposed greens the wind made conditions rather trying, in the earlier stages of the: competition mediocre players had the edge on some a of the more experienced, but the weather provided the test for accurate drawing on such keen greens, Aulsebrooks’ loss to Fendalton was a surprise, for up to the commencement of . Saturday’s games Aulsebrooks’ four was B in the lead. i, At the end of the fourth round six clubs s tied for second place, five of them re--1 latively small clubs,, including Kaiapoi, • last year's winners. • Should the present spell of hot weather hold until December 30, when the Dornini ion tournament will commence, many players will find conditions to their lik- , mg, and with a little luck should go a ' long way. ~ No Manning Cup games will be played ; Saturday because representative I fixtures. The next round will be played , on December 12. v J > Results:—. ! „ Spreydon Green : y. New Brighton.—Satterthwaite 20, . Bisman 16; Moss 28, Nichol 13.
