FOURTH ROUND BEGUN Beckenham made the highest score of the season in the first innings against WM.C. in the first day of the a fourth round of the Suburban Cricket Association competitions on Saturday, and at stumps the score was 320. Papanui batted slowly against Waltham to compile 169, and at stumps Waltham had made 49 for the loss of one wicket. Hillsborough batted three hours for 191 and at stumps Matchless had lost four wickets for 29 runs. Hillsborough 191 (B.- P. Commons 56, Neeson 20 not out, Wright 19) met Matchless 29 for four wickets (Smythe 22 not out). For Matchless Marshall took five for 57. Papanui 169 (F. Southen 35, Bell 34) met Waltham 49 for one wicket. For Waltham Campbell took four tor 45. SENIOR B GRADE Shipping 211 (Dale 94, Restieax 24) met New Brighton. For New Brighton Hay took four for 18 and Messervey three for 12. Wigram 167 (Swap 44 not out, Casey 38, Haache 27) met Spreydon 67 for seven wickets (Trueman 23 not out).
