BOOKMAKING IN HOTELS
MAGISTRATE’S COMMENT
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 24. “Bookmakers must be discouraged and not assisted in hotel bars, where they are prone to flourish,” said Mr W. S. Spence, S.M., in a reserved decision today. He fined Harry Robinson, of Mount Eden, £25 for bookmaking on October 17. The offence was said to have been committed in the bar of a hotel.
