Press Association—Copyright) Nov. 24. Competition was strong at the Sydney wool sale today, from the Continent, Britain, Eastern Europe, and Japan, with some inquiry from the United States. Of the 15,249 bales offered, 15,034 were sold. Values for all Merino medium to fine, and for comebacks and crossbreds, were fully firm on yesterday's levels. Broader and mixed quality Merinos were irregular and up to 2J per cent, cheaper. Among the crossbreds prices were 107Jd for good to super 58's. 102 id for good 60’s, 94d for good 58's, 90Jd for good 56’s, 731 d for good 50’s. MELBOURNE SALE (NJZ. Chief buyers were East and West Europe, with support from the United Kingdom and Japan, and local mills. There was a full clearance of the 11,400 bales offered.

GISBORNE SHEEPSKIN SALE (New Zealand Press Association) GISBORNE, Nov. 24. < A catalogue of 10.527 sheepskins was i sold under the hammer at a sale conducted by the Gisborne woolbrokers’ to- : day. Competition was keen and values ware in line with recent wool prices. Official range: pelts 12Jd to 231 d per lb; shearlings. 19? d -to 28Jd; quarter wool. 23Jd to 354 d; half wool, 32Jd to 42Jd; three-quarter wool, 35d to 481 d ;full wool. 351 d to 43jd; hoggets, 35Jd to 48d; lambs, 23d to 362 d. AUCKLAND HIDE AUCTION (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. November 24. The demand for yearling and calf skins strengthened at the Auckland hide auction today, and prices firmed slightly. Other types of hides were mainly firm on values of a fortnight ago. With fewer buyers operating there was some easing in prices for salted sheepskins. Full-woolled skins .were 3d lower than a fortnight ago at 355. STOCK SALES TEMUKA “The Press” Special Service TIMARU. November 24. Values were inclined to ease for the 120 head of good quality fat cattle offered at the Temuka sale today, and the same could be said for a large entry of store cattle. Three races of fat sheep proved too much for the local demand, and a few pens were passed at auction. An average yarding of store sheep met a very firm demand. ✓ Values were:— Fat Cattle.—Steers: Prime heavy, £46 to £53 2s 6d; light to medium, £35 2s 6d to £4O 12s 6d. Heifers: prime, £3B 17s 6d to £45 2s 6d; light to medium. £27 2s 6d to £3l 17s 6d. Cows: prime, £3O to £37 2s 6d; light to medium, £l5 to £27 17s 6d. Store Cattie.—Bulls, £5 to £lB IDs; yearling steers and heifers, £lB to £22; two-year-old steers and heifers, £32 to £36.

Fat Sheep.—Wethers: prime, 60s to 64s Id: light to medium. 52s to 56s Id. Ewes: prime, 40s to 45s 4d; light to medium, 32s to 36s lOd. Prime hogegts. 62s to 68s Id: prime lambs. 52s Id to 755. Store Sheep.—Ewes and lambs in the wool, to 58s. all counted. Shorn ewe hoggets, to £5 2s 6d.

TIN WALD Fat sheep were down as much as 6s a head on last week’s rates and there was no demand for store sheep at the Tinwald stock sale yesterday. In the first race of store sheep offered, only one pen was sold at auction. The inquiry for stores has slackened considerably in the last week.
