BOWLERS FOR EMPIRE GAMES

Sir, —In nominating bowlers to go to the Empire Games in Vancourver, I consider the selectors are taking on a mighty task when one considers the large number playing bowls today. I suppose many bowlers will consider they have just as good performances over the last and present season as those already nominated. Many small clubs have among their number one or two outstanding players, but, in teaming up, it is far more difficult in comparision with the city’s large clubs. Therefore these good players may not be able to go back years to claim their performances. Even so, I would think a player’s present form is all that is required; and therefore I would like to see an eliminating test similar to those conducted by all other sporting bodies and thereby make each player earn his selection.—Yours, etc., ONE AT BELFAST. November 24, 1953.
