BANK HOURS
PROVISION FOR LUNCH BREAK EXTENDED (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 20. Provision for bank premises to be closed for an hour between noon and 2 p.m., where the staff does not exceed five, is contained in the Finance Bill (No. 2), introduced in the House of Representatives today. At present this provision is limited to premises where the staff does not exceed three. Banks are also empowered to destroy cheques, draft bills of exchange, and promissory notes after seven years instead of 10 years as at present. Another clause in the bill concerns the Tenancy Act, 1948. The act is not to apply to the letting of dwelling houses for not more than 21 days to persons who visit a locality for the Royal tour.
