BOMBERS STRIKE AT MAU MAU

NAIROBI, November 19.

Royal Air Force Lincoln bombers dropped 17 5001 b and 10001 b bombs on Mau Mau hide-outs in the Aber-, dare Forest yesterday. Squadron Leader Alan Newitt, commanding officer of No. 49 Squadron, R.A.F., said today it was the opening phase in experimental heavy bombing operations which the squadron will continue in the next few weeks.

Seven Lincolns, forming a squadron, are now ready for operations with a programme of bombing designed to.help the Army by getting Mau Mau gangs out of thick forest areas into the reserves and more open country where they can be tracked and pursued more easily, Squadron Leader Newitt said.
