Houses for Teaching Staff Since 1951 the number of houses for teaching staff either built or bought by the Canterbury Education Board, had shown a considerable increase, according to figures presented at yesterday’s meeting of the board. In 1951, seven houses were built and two bought; in 1952. five were built and three bought, and in 1953, 20 had been built, three are to be built and two houses had been bought, making a total of 32 houses built (plus three to be built) and seven bought during the years 1951 to 1953. Up to 1950 the board had 202 houses, which with the 42 houses acquired between 1951 and 1953. brines the grand total to 244.
