WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FEDERATED FARMERS

Harewood.— The October meeting of the Harewood branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers welcomed two new members—Mesdames Jones and Kensington. Picnic arrangements were made and a visit to Glenelg arranged, members to take gifts to assist the home. The leper appeal was also supported Birthday gifts were distributed to four members. The hostesses were Mesdames Feutz, Barker, and Shrimpton. View Hill.— Mrs R. C. Taylor presided at the monthly meeting of the View Hill branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. An appeal for the lepers was well supported. Eggs were sent to the local hospital. Results of competitions were:—Six egps: Mrs Thorne and Mrs H. Taylor (equal) 1, Mrs L. E. Taylor 3. Pearce presided at the monthly meeting of the Rolleston branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. Arrangements were made for the annual picnic. An interesting demonstration on making Christmas gifts was given by Mrs Boulton. A competition was won by Mrs Carlyon. The hostesses were Miss A. Lowe and Mrs D. Newell. Several helpful hints on gardening were given, and Mrs Peter also brought with her many plants and cuttings which were bought 1 members, the proceeds being devoted to the branch’s funds. Andrews was the guest speaker, who gave an account of a recent holidav spent on Norfolk Island. Mrs J. Blamires thanked the speaker. The branch decided to send £3 for the special appeal to headquarters. A collection for the Leper Fund realised £2 3s 9d. The president reported attending a meeting to arrange for a gala in December for the hall, and members were urged to give it'their wholehearted I support. It was decided to contribute 10s to the Crippled Children Society. £2 2s to the leper appeal, and £2 2s to the Mission to Lepers, and £1 Is to Heritage. McQuillan, and Parlane, was decided to accept the invitation of the Bay of Plenty provincial to visit them in March.
