The civic reception in Timaru was to be held at the Sound Shell on Caroline Bay, but the choice of this site was criticised in Timaru. Representations were made that the reception should be held instead at Ashbury Park, and this suggestion has been accepted. The 15-minute reception will begin at 11.30 a.m. on Monday. January 25. The public welcome in Blenheim on Saturday, January 16, will now be held in the Market Place, instead of at the R.N.Z.AF. Station, Woodbourne, as previously arranged. This alteration has put forward the Royal party’s time of departure from Woodbourne by 25 minutes, and slso the planned times in the itinerary for Nelson later in the afternoon. The route which the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will take when they attend the civic dinner in Christchurch on the evening of Thursday, January 19, has been announced. Leaving the Clarendon Hotel at 7.55 p.m., the Royal ear will travel along Worcester street to Cathedral square, passing in front of the Cathedral, and thence along Colombo street and High street to Beath and Company’s premises, where the dinner is to be held. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will return to their hotel along Cashel street, Oxford terrace, and Worcester street.
