HARTWIG BEATS ROSEWALL
QUEENSLAND TITLE SEMIFINAL
(Rec. 11 p.m.) BRISBANE, Nov. 6. The first major upset of the Australian tennis season occurred today when Rex Hartwig, of- Queensland, beat the Australian and French champiqn, Ken Rosewall, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5, 6-2, in a semi-final of the Queensland singles championship.
Rosewall had lapses at important stages of the match, and Hartwig played his shots with great confidence. Rosewall appeared to be upset by the linesmen’s decisions, and became more edgy as the match went on.
In the other semi-final. Lewis Hoad, of New South Wales, overwhelmed Clive Wilderspin, of West Australia, 6-2, 6-3, 6-2. Wilderspin was out of touch, and the hard-hitting Hoad gave him no chance to settle down.
