TASMANIA’S NEW LOTTERY
“CLEAR FIELD” IN N.Z. PREDICTED
(Rec. 9.30 p.m.) HOBART, Nov. 6. The Tasmanian Premier (Mr R. Cosgrove) believes a Tasmanian lot* tery will-have a clear field in New Zealand.
The reason, he thinks, is his arrangement with the Prime Minister of New Zealand (Mr Holland). Mr Cosgrove said today the agreement will operate from April 1 next year. The New Zealand Government will collect 6d on each ticket sold in New Zealand.
A Melbourne message says a bill to enable Tattersall’s lottery to transfer from Hobart to Melbourne has passed through all stages of the Legislative Council, and will be proclaimed after the Legislative Assembly has approved several minor amendments to which the Government has agreed.
