WAR EMERGENCY ALLOCATIONS

TRANSFER TO DEFENCE FUND (Neto Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 5.

The War Emergency Fund is abolished and the £12,000,000 in it Is transferred to the Defence Fund by a clause in a supplementary order paper brought down m the House of Representatives tonight for inclusion in the JPublic Revenues Bill. The War Emergency Fund, .which f9T3s established in 1951, was to have En used for unforeseen expenditure the initial stages of any Juture The Defence Fund, which now contains about £14,000,000, was established a few years earlier for use as on purchases of defence ■equipment. Another amendment to the bill says ghat, if any money in the Defence Fund is not required for its original tourpose, it may be transferred to a reserve fund or to the Loans Redemption Account.
