“WAR MUST BE AVOIDED”
(Rec. 11.30 pjn.) NEW YORK, Octo. 12. Marshal Tito would not be permitted to start a war at the head of the Adriatic over his dispute with Italy on the proposed partition of the Free Territory of Trieste, the “New York Times’’ said today. “Resources exist within the United Nations to nip such enterprises in the bud. Surely, civilised peoples of different racial strains can arrange here, as they have arranged in other parts of the Western world, to live together in peace. Meanwhile the insane folly of war, even a little war, must be avoided.”
