Frontages on Main South Road
Acting on a letter from the district engineer of the Ministry of Works (Mr W. F. Young), the Paparua County Council at its meeting last evening decided to take steps to see that frontages of properties on the route to be taken by the Queen through the Paparua county, would be cleaned and tidied up. It was resolved to ask property owners to co-operate, but that if the owners of the properties with untidy frontages failed to clean them up within a given period, the council would do the work and charge for it. Mr Young’s letter said that the Queen would travel by car along the Main South road, part of which was in the Paparua county. The department would be responsible for the condition of the road surface in most cases, but it was held desirable that the verges should be in a tidy condition. It was hoped the authorities concerned would encourage property owners to clean up their frontages, said the letter.
