N.A.T.O. FORCES IN DENMARK
Refusal To Permit Air Bases (Rec. 8 p.m.) COPENHAGEN, Oct. 6. Denmark’s Prime Minister (Mr Hans fiedtopt) said today that Denmark would continue to carry out her obligations under the Atlantic Pact, but that it was not expedient to accept offers to station N.A.T.O. airmen on Danish air bases in peace time. Mr Hedtopt said: “The Government appreciates the offer that has been made to contribute to its defence in the form of the permanent stationing of Allied air forces in this country. “The Government considers that Denmark has an incontestable right to receive such support, but it is of the opinion that in the present, situation it would not be expedient to accept this offer.”
