NEW BRIGHTON CLUB REFORMED . The New Brighton Tennis Club, which was establisuea in 1894, but which has been without courts since 1936, has been reformed and negotiations will be entered into with the Christchurch City Council to have courts built at Rawhiti Domain. On Tuesday evening a committee to discuss the proposed new courts was elected at a meeting called by the New Brighton Businessmen’s Association. The New Brighton Club is the oldest in Christchurch and, from 1894 until 1936 used courts on property owned by St. Faith’s Church. A dispute with the church officials resulted in club members to use toe courts- . . The City Council had already offered to help with toe formation of courts at Rawhiti Domain, said a report from toe club yesterday. Arrangements will be made with toe' council reserves department. Officers elected were as follows: chairman. Mr K. T. Hardie; secretary. Mias A. Francis; committee, Messrs F. Grade, R. Marriott, Mesdames R. Carson, D. Sutton, and N. Bouse.
