AGE OF UMPIRES APPLICANTS OVER 60 NOT ELIGIBLE No applicant for membership who Is over 60 years, unless he has" had “adequate” experience of umpiring, will be admitted as a member of the Canterbury Cricket Umpires’ Association. This is a provision in the association’s new constitution, adopted at the annual meeting last evening. Official club scorers, who have previously been entitled to honorary membership, can now be admitted to full membership.
Liaison with umpires in other major centres will be sought by the association, with a view to securing interchangeability of umpires’ grading among associations. Officers were elected as follows President, Mr H. W. Gourlay; vice-presidentt, Mr C- L. Crowson; secretary, Mr E. Milne; delegate to Canterbury Cricket Association, Mr E. Milne; executive committee, Messrs E. G. Brook and W. Barnes; grading committee, Messrs H. "Wilson and E. G. Brook; appointments committee, Messrs W. Barnes and C. L. Crowson. Mr T. H. Garbutt, immediate past president, will be ex officio a member of the committee, under the association’s new constitution. NORTH CANTERBURY RESULTS The following were scores In matches played in the North Canterbury Cricket Association’s competitions on Saturday:— Senior Woodend 159 (R. Smith 23, G. Huria 37, C. McQuillan 28, L. Southen 24, L. Robertshaw not out 14) met Rangiora 56 for the loss of no wickets. For Rangiora, Roberts took five wickets for 39. Kaiapoi 323 (G. Ching 53, R. Rodgers 16, A. Hopkins 11, T. Ching 36, C. Merrin. 158, R. Cherry 10) met Amberley 3 for two wickets. For Amberley, S. Boyce took five wickets for 74, and Garden two tor 82. Senior B High School Old Boys 79 (G* Smith 30 not out) met Oxford 45. For Old Boys, Ballinger took eight wickets for 30. Swannanoa 124 for seven wickets, declared (F. McHugh 47) met Fernside 24. For Swannanoa Higginson took three wickets for 1. Cust 135 (Gainsford 42) met Amberley 46. For Amberley Demmocks took rour wickets for 13, and for Cust Jamieson took five for 1. Sefton 73 met Eyreton 53 and 52 for two wickets. Junior Rangiora High School 140 for two wickets declared (Buckingham 79 not out) met Cust 63 and 45 for seven wickets. Stewart’s Gully 165 (Sibley 103) met 2 h ° ka „?, 7 , < M - Pearce 46). For Stewart’s Gully Sibley took seven wickets for 39. MERIVALE CRICKET CLUB.
