NAVAL OFFICERS PROMOTED

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 5. The promotion of three officers, whose combined service in the Royal Navy and Royal New Zealand Navy totals 66 years, has been announced by the Naval Board. Senior Commissioned Engineer Officer W. R. Paul, offPiriaka, who joined the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy as a stoker in 1930, has been promoted to lieutenant (engineer). Senior Commissioned Wardmaster S. A. Higgs, M.8.E., who joined the Royal Navy in 1930 as a sick berth attendant, came to New Zealand on loan in 1937 and transferred to the Royal New Zealand Navy in 1945, has been promoted to wardmaster lieutenant. Commissioned Electrical Officer R. E. Ansley, of Christchurch, who joined the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy as a boy in 1933, has been promoted to senior commissioned electrical officer.
