BILLIARDS AND SNOOKER
APPEARANCE BY CLARK MCCONACHY
The world’s champion billiards player, Clark McConachy, last evening beat the New Zealand billiards and snooker champion, L. Stout, by 750 points to 683, after conceding him a handicap of 400. McConachy’s breaks included 135, 111, and 150, and averaged 33. Stout recorded breaks of 34. 27, and 42.
In his first frame of snooker, against Stout. McConachy won comfortably, although conceding 28 points in each frame. In the second frame, Stout was in a handy position and potted all the colours to win the game. Playing against A. Phillips, McConachy conceded six blacks (42 points), in each frame. There was little between the two players, in the first frame, until half-way, when Phillips struck form, and, like Stout, potted all the colours to win. In their second frame, they were again an even match, McConachy being the winner.
