PRICE OF HAIRCUTS
Sir,—The Joarbers are at it again, seeking an increase in the price of haircuts, as if their present exorbitant charge of £ll 5s a hundred is not enough. Shearers do a dirtier job, plus kicking sheep all over, for about a quarter of this sum. If they were less independent and did shaving the public would not mind; in any case, they should be compelled to shave or get out of business and let someone who wilL Besides, most cutting is by machine. Why don’t they shave them this way? There is no fear of their losing shaving customers; in fact, they could probably sell the hundreds of machines I see cluttering up their shops.—Yours, etc., RAZOR LAUGH. Hastings, September 13, 1953.
