F. D. JONES RESUMES TRAINING

The veteran Riccarton trainer, F. D. Jones, who recently returned to New Zealand from a trip abroad, has resumed training, and has- again taken over Dan and Captain Flint, which were prepared by W. A. Welton during his absence. The Ashburton winner, Sawdust, will rnoain with Welton in the meantime, and will be taken. south for the Dunedin spring meeting, where his main mission will be the Dimedin Guineas. Bahrein will also represent Welton's stable in the Dunedin Guineas. Sawdust will possibly join A. E. Didhsm’s Wingatui team after the Dunedin Guineas. He will run in the Kaikorai Handicap on Saturday, and will be ridden by J. Didham, who was also his jockey at Ashburton. D. J. Thistoll win go south for the second day of the meeting to ride Bahrein in the Guineas. Bahrein was all at sea on a rain-affected track in the John Grigg Stakes at Ashburton. He is better than that performance would indicate, but the best will not be seen of him at Wingatui if the track is greasy. The first of the Riccarton horses with engagements at Wingatui went south yesterday, and the rest will go today. Dan (P. Hill) gave another satisfactory display over four .hurdles at Riccarton yesterday. He rapped the first two flights but his leap at the third was brilliant.
