The weather forecast for Canterbury Issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 27 hours following the time of issue, Situation: an anti-cyclone covers New Zealand. Forecast: light to moderate winds from a northerly quarter, weather fair to cloudy. Temperatures cool. Outlook for Sunday: mainly fair. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Light winds: weather cloudy, temperatures moderate. Outlook for Sunday: rain developing. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine and clear, with a light easterly wind. At midnight, the sky was almost overcast, and there was a light northeasterly breeze. The temperature was 43.6 degrees and the barometer at 30.304 inches (1027.3 millibars), was rising. Rainfall for 24 hours ended 1 a.m.: trace.
