CROP RESEARCH DIRECTOR
DR. E. J. GODLEY APPOINTED
Dr. E. J. Godley has been appointed director of the Crop Research Division of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research at Lincoln. He succeeds Dr. O. H. Frankel, who is now director of the Division of Plant Industry in the Australian Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation. Dr. Godley joined the Crop Research Division about two and a half years ago as senior geneticist. Born at Auckland, Dr. Godley graduated master of science at Auckland University College in 1941. In the previous year he was Senior Scholar in botany at the college, and in 1941 he was awarded the Duffus Lubecki research scholarship. After service with the 2nd N.Z.E.F. in Italy, Dr. Godley went to Cambridge University under a rehabilitation bursary to carry out research in genetics. He was two years at Cambridge, and gained a doctorate in philosophy. When he returned to New Zealand he took up a lecturing post in genetics at Auckland University College.
