MODERN BRITISH PRINTS
COLLECTION GIVEN TO MUSEUM
A former Christchurch resident, Mr Rex de C. Nankivell, now of the Redfern Gallery, London, has sent to the Canterbury Museum 300 modern British prints. They include coloured lithographs and woodcuts, line engravings, and woodcuts in black and white. Reporting this to the Museum Trust Board on Thursday, the Director (Dr. Roger Duff) said that, although it was not the museum’s . policy to collect European paintings and prints, its thanks had been expressed to the donor.
Dr. Duff said that it was intended to distribute the prints through the Canterbury Public Library’s loan scheme, and to make them available for use by students at the Canterbury College School of Art. Mr Nankivell had approved the use of the prints in this way.
