HOUSEHOLD HEATING
It is quite obvious from the number of accidents each year, the average householder has much to learn about the purchasing of new heating appliances. Although the modern trend is for grilled electric heaters, a red element, whether it be grilled or otherwise, is still a potential danger, especially in households where aged and young constitute the family. A recent introduction to this country, the Hobourn Convection Heater, is without doubt the answer to safe home heating. By virtue of its outstanding safety features, this new English appliance created so much interest at the Ideal Home Exhibition at Earl's Court, London, where it appeared for the first time, that it was subsequently televised by the 8.8. C. The heater, completely grilled, looks warm but remains cool to the touch, as the. element it contains is so designed that it generates a black heat of the Infra-Red Type, as distinct from the glowing red element of the ordinary electric fire. It also operates on Pure Convection, which means that it is not assisted by any noisy fan. A very recent scientific discovery, the Element is also shock-proof and will not ignite paper or materials. Apart from the heater switching Itself off on being knocked over, it also Incorporates a Thermostatic Switch which comes into use when the heater is utilised as a clothes drier. .
