COST OF IMPORTED HOUSES

MINISTER’S COMMENT ON CABLEGRAM (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 20. Experience had shown that the importation of precut houses did not result in cheaper houses once they were erected in New Zealand, said the Minister in charge of the State Advances Corporation (Mr J. R. Marshall). He was commenting on a cabled report from London of f the display there of three-bedroom houses at £5OO each. However, he added, the Government was interested in any proposition of the kind mentioned in the cablegram, and would examine the matter when more details were available.
