ROYAL VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND
PARLIAMENTARY OPENING SUGGESTED TELEVISING OF CEREMONY (New Zealand Press Association) . WELLINGTON, August 6. A limited form of television may allow hundreds more people to see the Queen’s opening of Parliament in Januuary thap can be accommodated in the old Legislative Council Chamber. Requests for admission to the opening ceremony have been pouring into the Government by the thousand, and the Government is considering a suggestion that demonstration television units could be used to relay the ceremony to screens in the social room of Parliament Buildings and perhaps also to the House of Representatives. It may also be possible to have screens erected elsewhere in Parliament Buildings. At the time of the Royal visit a demonstration television' set will be operated at the Wellington Royal Show, and n is thought that, if the Government approves, the company giving the demonstration may be willing to show the opening of the Parliamentary ceremony to the show crowds.
