LOSS OF U.S. BOMBER

SOVIET REJECTION OF PROTEST

(Rec. 9.10 p.m.) MOSCOW, Aug. 5. The Soviet Government sent a new Note to the United States rejecting the American Note of August 1 on the air incident off Siberia when a Soviet fighter shot down an American bomber over the Sea of Japan. The latest Note reaffirmed the Soviet protest of July 20 saying the bomber violated the Soviet frontier near Vladivostok, opened fire on Soviet interceptor fighters, and was driven off by return fire from Soviet fighters. The Note said the American protest was rejected as it contained contradictory facts.
