The weather forecast for Canterbury, ' issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the ' 27 hours following the time of issue, Situation: an intense anti-cyclone lies over and east of New Zealand, and there is an active depression in the western Tasman. Forecast: light to moderate north-east winds predominating; coastal fog and low cloud areas, but fine inland; cool to moderate temperatures. Outlook: cloudy. The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate north-east winds; weather fair to cloudy; moderate temperatures. Outlook: cloudy. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The day in Christchurch yesterday was overcast, with a very light north-east wind. The maximum temperature was 44.8 degrees. At midnight the sky was overcast, and there was a light wind from the east-north-east. The temperature was 42.2 degrees. The barometer, at 30.508 inches (1035.6 millibars), was falling.
