FIVE PREMISES ENTERED
GOODS AND MONEY STOLEN
Five premises were entered during the week-end, in addition to a butchery shop which was damaged by fire, and money or property was stolen from each.
Various articles, valued at £2O, were stolen from a house in Straven road, and articles, worth 13s, were stolen from a house in Mathesons road.
The office of the headmistress at the Phillipstown School was broken into and 30s in money was taken. Yesterday morning, when members of the staff of the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Association of Canterbury, Ltd., Cashel street, went to work, they found that a window had been smashed and a radio, valued at £2O, had been stolen. Other goods in the window were damaged. A window at the rear of the shop of R. A. Nicolas (Christchurch), Ltd., in New Regent street, was broken and a necklace, valued at 30s, was lifted through the hole in the window.
