FREEDOM OF LONDON
HONOUR FOR QUEEN MOTHER (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, July 10. Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, will be presented with the freedom of the City of London. Proposing this at a meeting of the city’s corporation yesterday, Mr S. R. Walker said: “The Queen Mother has once again taken up her duties with unimpaired vigour. She must have been a great inspiration to King George VI, and she is a wonderful mother.
“This is shown by the selfless devotion to duty of her daughters, the Queen and Princess Margaret. History will tell of her inestimable value to our country and the Empire.” The presentation of the freedom of London to the Queen Mother will take place at the Guildhall. She will be handed a public address enclosed with the Roll of Freedom—a parchment record—in a cask of gold and silver.
