On the ground that an additional day’s play each week would result in additional work being required on greens maintained by it the City Coun-, cil last evening declined an application by the St. James Croquet Club for permission to use its greens on Sundays. “Previously similar applications from tennis clubs and two bowling clubs have been approved,” reported the reserves committee, “but in each case the club maintained its own courts or greens.”
