The United States now has an atom bomb sufficiently small to be carried in a single-seater one-engined attack plane, Mr Edward Heineman, chief engineer of the Douglas Aircraft Company of Los Angeles, said today. The plane, a Douglas attack bomber, has been operating from United States Navy carriers for at least a year. Mr Heineman’s statement was authorised by the military authorities.
